Human Axis

Bell and Drum Towers & Shichahai Area & Beihai Park
Sound, water, gardens, and lived urban texture

This is the gentlest and most intimate of my three central-axis walks.

We begin where imperial time once moved outward through sound and authority. From there, the route gradually loosens. The walk leaves behind the formal pressure of the axis and opens into a Beijing shaped by water, gardens, and urban life.

As the atmosphere shifts, so does the way the city is felt. Structure softens into daily life; order gives way to texture; spaciousness itself becomes meaningful.

It is a quieter walk, revealing a Beijing that feels slower and breathable.
